Government has announced $12.4 million for 600 community groups – including $1.13 million for Gold Coast groups

The Palaszczuk Government has announced $12.4 million for 600 community groups – including $1.13 million for Gold Coast groups – in the latest round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Yvette D’Ath said the Gambling Community Benefit Fund was Queensland’s largest one-off grants program, which distributes about $53 million a year to communities.
In the latest round announced today, Mrs D’Ath said 602 groups would benefit from $12.4 million.
“On the Gold Coast, Mudgeeraba Special School has been allocated $35,000 to upgrade their facilities and Royal Queensland Art Society Gold Coast branch will receive $35,000 to install an elevator,” Mrs D’Ath said.
“In addition, the Endeavour Foundation will also receive $35,000 to upgrade the bathroom at one of the accommodation facilities and Mike Hatcher Junior Motorcycle Club will get $31,515 to upgrade their facilities.
“This is terrific news for the Gold Coast region. The Palaszczuk Government is ensuring community organisations have the funding they need to provide services to their community.”
Mrs D’Ath said these community groups were vital to the region.
“Dedicated locals are the lifeblood of these community groups and we are ensuring they have funds needed for projects that would have otherwise been out of reach.
“We know how vital their work is, and that is why we contribute millions of dollars every round as part of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.”
Mrs D’Ath said applications for the next round would open later in July.
“Applications are assessed by the Community Benefit Funds Unit and are considered every quarter,” Mrs D’Ath said.
“Community groups can also apply online for these grants worth between $500 and $35,000.”
